The morning after

Ever since this fiasco started I had slept so little and felt so nauseous that I wasn’t sure any of this was real. Several times during installation week I wondered if I had been duped into hiring a Pella imposter. I kept checking the web to verify that the number I called for the in-home visit was legitimate, and yes, this installation really was done by an official Pella branch.

The day after the installers finished I opened a few windows, but mostly I tried to not touch anything because I felt like I was living in a crime scene. The photos below show some of what greeted me on the inside of my house as I started the final set of documentation photos:

(You may think I am being overly picky about what I am showing in this section. If this project had gone well I might have overlooked most of it. But this is a $38K project that took me nearly two years of savings to fund, and I am really pissed.)

Dents, scratches, scrapes, and peeling finish

Scratched jambliners

Mud and goo

Caulk smeared on the back of my leather couch

This couch is in a walkway, but nowhere near a window.

I tried to remove this caulk. It is not quite as obvious now, but there is still a very noticeable stain.
